From cabin counselors and activity leaders to nurses and kitchen staff, every role at camp plays an important part in helping campers build confidence, independence, friendships, and lifelong memories.

camp counselors
This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, energetic, patient, and excited to make a meaningful difference. Responsibilities include assisting campers with daily routines, participating in activities, supervising cabins, encouraging independence, and helping campers fully engage in camp programs.
Counselors often describe their time at Camp Tatiyee as life-changing, not only for campers, but for themselves as well.
programming staff
Program Staff are responsible for creating a fun and welcoming environment where every camper can safely participate and succeed, regardless of ability level. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy creativity, leadership, and working with children in an active outdoor environment. Staff members collaborate closely with counselors and leadership to adapt activities to camper needs while maintaining a high-energy and encouraging atmosphere.
Whether leading a game, teaching a new skill, or helping a camper try something for the very first time, Program Staff help create the moments campers remember forever.
nursing staff
Responsibilities include medication management, responding to medical needs, supporting camper health, assisting staff with medical guidance, and helping oversee the overall wellness of camp operations. Nurses work closely with camp leadership, counselors, and families to ensure campers can fully participate in camp activities safely and confidently.
This role is ideal for compassionate medical professionals who want to combine clinical skills with meaningful, mission-driven work. Camp Tatiyee’s nursing team helps make it possible for many children with higher support needs to experience the joy, independence, and confidence that camp provides.
kitchen staff
Responsibilities may include meal preparation, serving food, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, supporting dietary accommodations, and assisting with overall food service operations. Because many campers have specialized dietary or medical needs, attention to detail and teamwork are especially important in this role.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working behind the scenes to make a direct impact. From early morning breakfasts to camp cookouts and special treats, the Kitchen Team helps create comfort, consistency, and memorable camp traditions for everyone at Camp Tatiyee.
camp tatiyee’s greatest asset
Camp Tatiyee hires only the very best staff members to work with campers. Our employees are trained to provide superior care for campers, create and participate in programs, and establish the safe, welcoming feeling of the camp.
We select staff based on their application, references, and an in-depth interview. We are selective when hiring to ensure that each member of the staff will strengthen and contribute to the team.
During the summer season, staff on-site may include people studying or going into the fields of education, medicine, occupational and physical therapies, among others. However, this is not a requirement.
To do this job successfully, applicants must want to be part of a team, work directly in a caring capacity with campers over a two-month period, be honest, and able to put others’ needs before their own.
a meaningful work experience
For 10 days, our staff undergoes rigorous training that includes, but is not limited to, mock fire drills, C.P.R./first aid training, Crisis Intervention Training, missing camper drills, lifting techniques, seizure procedures, dressing, feeding, role-playing, sign language classes, and hours of disability awareness activities. We set high standards for our employees.

staff structure
During the summer, the following staff members are on site at all times: executive director, assistant director, registered nurses, program director and program staff, counselors, kitchen staff, and resident manager. All staff lives on site from mid-May until mid-August.
Each dorm has one lead counselor and five to seven counselors. The lead counselor is in charge of ensuring that all campers receive excellent care. Leads have commonly worked for Camp Tatiyee for several years, are experienced, and plan on working in the healthcare or education fields
