If your camper is gluten-free, you will have to bring your own meals. Our staff is able to store meals in fridge or freezer and prepare these for your camper at each meal, so long as you provide the food.

You are responsible for bringing your camper between 1-3pm on the Sunday of their week. Why do we do this?

        • So your camper is comfortable and you can meet the staff!
        • We want to learn from you! Our staff will want to ask clarifying questions and in some instances have you show them examples of specific care needs.
        • We want to develop a line of communication and a relationship with our camper families.

how do i apply for my child?

We recommend by first watching our documentary “Just Like Us” on the homepage of our website. This will help you understand what Camp Tatiyee has to offer your child. Then go to the camper tab and start your application. Most of our application is on- line but there are two forms you must print and scan in. Those two forms are:

  • The physician’s exam form (this must be filled out by the campers doctor)
  • The Potential Camper form (this is filled out by the teacher, or lead of a day program if applicable)

From there the application will go under review. Your camper is officially accepted when you receive a reservation form!

what are the registration dates?

Applications are on-line on our website from January until several weeks before the session. Applications may close for sessions once they are full, but this will be indicated on our website.

is there a nurse on site?

We hire two full-time R.N.’s who live on site all summer. We are also minutes from the nearest hospital.

does my camper need to be immunized?

We collect immunization information, but will also accept immunization exemptions.

is there a weight limit for campers?

To prevent injury to our staff, we have a weight limit max of 300 pounds.

where do you find your staff?

Our staff is selected from various Arizona Universities and colleges. We intentionally seek out those students studying to enter human service fields such as Nursing, pre-med, physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, special education, general education, psychology, speech therapy etc.

We hire 1-2 High School Students as counselors in training. These are individuals who want to enter human service fields and show great maturity. This helps us to maintain a high return rate among our staff and comforts our families when they see the same counselors year after year.

what is your staff to camper ratio?

Our staff to camper ratio depends on the session your camper attends.

During most weeks when we have campers needing more involved care, our ratio can be 1 staff to 1 camper if they are new or if their care requires that. It may go up to 1 staff for 2 or 3 campers but not beyond that.

Exclusively Deaf week & Learning Disabilities week:
We may be as high as 1 staff to 5 campers due to high levels of independence in self care and mobility.
